God, the Holy Spirit, is the ultimate Author of Scripture. He is also the only adequate interpreter of Scripture. No human has full authority to interpret Scripture for another. Each person can rely on the Holy Spirit to guide into truth. That which we gain from the Spirit we should proclaim fervently and live out completely. We cannot force that belief on another, however, for as human interpreters under the Spirit, we remain open to misunderstanding. The Spirit seeks to bring glory to Jesus, so that all true interpretation of Scripture will glorify the Christ. Christ remains the ultimate revelation of God

Jesus Predicts His Death

       NIV  Luke 18:31-34

Jesus took the Twelve(Disciples) aside and told them, "We are going to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again." The Disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

Jesus Is Arrested

      NIV  Luke 22:53

While he was still speaking, a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, of the Twelve(Disciples), was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, but Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, should we strike with our swords?" And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting of his right ear. But Jesus answered, "No more of this!" And he touched the man's ear and healed him. Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders who had come for him, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour---when darkness reigns."

The Crucifixion

      NIV  John 19:17-18

Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (Golgotha). Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one of each side and Jesus in the middle.

Jesus' Death

      NIV  Luke 23:44-49

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirt." When had had said this, he breathed his last.
